A warm welcome to Calvdale English Springer Spaniels
We are Martin and Nicola Calvert. We married in September 1974 and have bred horses and dogs over the past 30 years.
We both came from backgrounds where animals played a large part in life - Martin from a family who surrounded itself in equines and whose mother ran a riding school.
My mother bred and exhibited both Poms and Danes (the sublime and the ridiculous) under the Fullate affix for many years. It was almost automatic that having been involved in dog showing from being tiny, that I should eventually take up my own affix and exhibit in my own right.
'Calvdale' was applied for to the KC in 1980 and it came about as a mixture our surnames and the 'Dales', the part of Yorkshire from which Martin came from as a child and indeed the place to which one day we hope to return.............................
We have met some lovely people along the way and some who are sadly no longer around that were instrumental in ‘getting us started’. To folk like John and Sylvia Skilbeck (Skilleigh), Alan and Margaret Bower Bowswood, Sue Shaw and our dear friend Joan Hill (Esholt) now in Canada, we shall always be eternally grateful and shall never forget their assistance and guidance . Whilst we are always looking forward to meet what is coming next, we never forget where we started or with whom.
